FAQ

Why buy an electric bike?

There are many reasons

  • Freedom to cycle without unnecessary effort
  • The ease and speed of travel in the city compared to other means of transport
  • The cost of transportation
  • The health aspect
  • The ecological aspect,...
  • But above all, it is these three fundamental reasons that are unanimous: fun, fun and fun!

How far can I travel on a battery charge?

Several factors influence the distance traveled on a load. Two people with exactly the same bike can get different results depending on:

  • The load of the bike (weight of the cyclist, luggage, etc.)
  • The rolling surface: a smooth surface with less resistance will yield better results than a rough surface.
  • Terrain inclination: the climbs require more energy than a flat surface.
  • Climatic conditions: the cold reduces the efficiency of the battery and driving against the wind requires more energy.
  • Tire pressure.
  • The use of support: the more it is used, the lower the load level.

Taking these factors into account, here are some estimated distances:

Battery Normal conditions (km) Difficult conditions (km) Optimal conditions (km)
300 W 55 34 67
400 W734689
500 W9157111
600 W10969133
700 W12780156
800 W14591178

Can I leave the bike outdoors?

As the frames of our bikes are aluminum or carbon (elite model), they are rust resistant. However, the steel components are subject to rust.

Do I need to remove the battery when I am not using the bike?

It is not necessary to remove the battery. However, if you do not use the bike for a long time, it is preferable to recharge it every three months.

A fully discharged battery can take between 2 to 6 hours for a full charge. The first 3 times, we recommend 10 hours recharge, to bring the battery to its maximum capacity.

Lithium-ion batteries currently offer the best technology among those used to produce electric bicycle batteries. These batteries are smaller and lighter and because they do not suffer from the "memory effect", it is not necessary to wait until they are completely discharged to recharge them.

How to estimate the capacity of the batteries?

Intuitively, the higher the watt-hour (WH) value of the battery, the more the load will last and the more kilometers you can travel.

A WH is equal to the volts (V) multiplied by the ampere-hour (AH) of the battery; a battery of 36 V and 14.4 Ah has a value of 522 WH (36 x 14.4 = 522).

Can I use the bike in the winter?

The batteries work better at certain temperatures. In cold weather, i.e. below 10 °c, it is recommended to keep the bike and battery charged indoors and to only take out the bike when it is being used.

How do I store the battery for an extended period of time?

Charge the battery every 3 months to avoid loss of capacity. Batteries are discharged slowly when not in use for a long time; If you let the battery cells reach an extremely low voltage, their lifespan and capacity will be permanently reduced.

Always unplug your charger from the wall outlet and battery before storing it.

Avoid storing your battery in extreme, hot or cold temperatures. It is best to choose a cool and dry place. Do not allow condensation to form on your battery, as this may cause a short circuit and corrosion.

The recommended storage temperature for lithium-ion batteries is between 0 and 25 °c. Avoid exposing the battery to extreme heat (40 °c and above) for an extended period of time.

Do I need to charge the battery before using it?

Yes, you must fully charge the battery before using it for the first time.

Combien de temps la batterie gardera-t-elle sa charge ?

All batteries discharge themselves when not in use. The rate of self-discharge depends on the temperature at which they are stored. An excessively cold or hot storage temperature discharges the batteries faster. Ideally, batteries should be stored at room temperature.

Why should I charge my battery at least every 90 days (lithium-ion) when I don't use it?

Batteries naturally lose their load over time. To keep the lithium-ion batteries under optimal conditions and extend their lifespan, it is recommended to complete a full charge at least every 90 days.

Will I get more performance for my bike if I let the battery recharge for longer?

No, once the battery is fully charged (as indicated by the charger indicator), it is preferable to unplug it from the charger. Leaving the battery on the charge for longer than necessary is an "overload" and does not increase performance. The Chargers supplied with our bikes are designed to avoid overloading the batteries. However, we recommend that you always unplug the charger once the unit is fully charged to avoid any unforeseen hazards, such as a lightning surge (or other power line anomaly) that can cause damage. Use only the power charger supplied with the bike.

Is it normal for the battery to warm up when charging?

Yes, it is normal for the battery to be warmer to the touch during the charging process. This is due to the increase of the internal resistance and the decrease of the conversion efficiency of the electrical energy into chemical energy.

How long will the battery last before you need to be replaced?

The average life of the battery depends on the use and conditions. Even with proper care, it is not possible to recharge a battery forever.

How do I dispose of the battery?

Please Recycle old batteries

  • Do not throw them to the fire due to the risk of explosion.
  • Dispose of batteries in accordance with the regulations in force in your area.

What is the regulation on electric bikes?

Some cities, provinces and States frame the use of electric bikes. We invite you to consult the regulations in force in your area.
